What an exciting moment, not just in rock history, but in history of mankind. The Beatles at Shea stadium, New York 1965. Over 55,000 hysterically charged people in one gathering, which I’m guessing is a first. I know it was the first time a stadium was used for a concert. There’s something about the way they performed that night that really gets me.

The funny thing is, I don’t really think they meant for their music to be for kids and teenie-boppers. It was for people who’ve lived the ups and downs of life. Before they started recording their songs that we know and got polished up by their manager, they spent 3 years in Hamburg Germany playing in dive bars twice a night experiencing everything from the wild to the grotesque, and playing dirty blues rock that reflected the same. They were all very young too, I believe George was 19 when they got back to England.

Anyways, one of the many things I think that makes their music so different and appealing is that there’s no bulls***. It’s just straight-forward life, enthusiasm and pure energy. You can tell they knew what they liked and that they enjoyed it completely. And they embraced their quirkiness! All in all it was real, which is what people are drawn to, especially kids

'You can't do that' live
