Wow, it's a little scary that the late-70s/early-80s are already being considered a simpler time, but I guess it's true. Are we really less naive today?
I was mostly referring to my own life in general, as I was a little kid at the time.
However, America not being involved in any major wars, and the economic recovery taking place, it was the closest thing to a post-WW2 U.S. we've seen since.
Sure, the civil rights movement, Vietnam, energy crises, assassinations, drugs and other irresponsible lifestyles took their toll on us, but we made it through w/resilience.
And I am proud to say I got to be a kid during a relatively happy and enjoyable era in our history.
