Manuel=Jeremy

This has been one of my favourite photographs for several years. I love everything about it. Especially Goerge’s hair, which I intentionally used for Jeremy.

It’s funny, I’ve used this as a cover for a Pavement e.p. for over ten years. It’s one of the many interchangeable liners that come with the Sonic youth album ‘Experimental jet set, trash and no star’. I’ve always thought that was a cool lookin’ kid. But I just really noticed the amazing similarities, as I was going through my cds the other day.

I hafta say, young Dank was the basis of Jeremy’s personality. Quiet but uniquely hilarious.

(here wearing a bad-ass bobcat shirt)

(with some young Biagio thrown in too, whom will be supplying the voice).

At first, being heavily influenced by Charles Schulz, I gave Jeremy a C-shaped nose. Then one day I tried an obtuse V-shaped nose. I wasn't sure if I liked it, then I realized how it looked so much like Manuel that way, and kept it. Justin & I would laugh so much at how it looked like him, and one day I showed him a drawing of Jeremy and asked him if that's what he looked like as a kid, and he said, "Yep, and I didn't have hands either."

And of course, Dwayne! Who everybody thinks looks just like Manuel & vice-versa.

I also found this, from a comic book I read at least 100 times as a kid, and which I also had on my bedroom wall my senior year.

blue cape, eh, eh?
